I had some rosemary left over from my first post this week so I thought it would be special to create a cocktail just for you as a thank you for joining me in this new adventure. I call it the Classy Clementine.
Did you know that clementines came to exist because of accidental hybridization? That’s one story but all I know is I love them! Maybe the reason I like them so much is because they are available for such a short period of time. And like so many things I grow in the garden, a short season leaves me longing for more. So drink up — these little jewels won’t be around much longer!
Are you familiar with elderflower liqueur? It’s made from, well, elderflowers that are collected during a short blooming period in the spring. According to the Saint Germain company, the hand-picked flowers are bicycled to a collection depot where they are immediately macerated to preserve the fresh flavors of the bloom. Extracting the flavors of this flower is not an easy process, and the company keeps their process and recipe a family secret.
There are so many things to love about this seasonal beverage from the beautiful color of the clementine and fragrant rosemary to the alluring taste of elderflower liqueur. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed creating it just for you!
Thank you so much for joining me this week and for liking, sharing, pinning, and tweeting!
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary leaves, plus additional stems with lower leaves removed for swizzle stick
- 2 freshly squeezed clementines
- ½ shot simple syrup
- 2 shots elderflower liqueur
- 1 shot best quality vodka
- 3 shots club soda
- In a mixing glass, muddle the rosemary leaves with the clementine juice and simple syrup. Add the elderflower liqueur and vodka, top with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a clean glass over ice. Top with club soda and stir with a rosemary stem swizzle stick.
I have worked at restaurants/bars for 17 years and this cocktail sounds better then any I serve! Very creative and I would love to see a “cocktail happy hour Friday” recipe every week lol!
This sounds refreshing, flavorful and looks beautiful!
I love the combination of clementines and elderflower liqueur! I used it before in a margarita variation.
These are just about the prettiest cocktails I have ever seen!! Get your shaker ready – I’m coming over!!
