Let’s gather around a grill and celebrate America’s birthday! July 4th could be called The Great American Cookout because every year around the country, friends and family come together to celebrate all the best things summer has to offer. And at the top of my list is easy entertaining and delicious food.
A Fourth of July party or summertime gathering may be a casual affair but a little planning makes a huge difference. While bringing out the good china and polishing the silver isn’t necessary, following a few tried and trusted tips will ensure success and a good time had by all.
Be organized. The more you can plan, organize, and make in advance the better. That way, you can focus on being a good host and simply enjoy the party!
Prepare the grill. If you’re using a gas grill, make sure to check the tank — having an extra one on hand is always a good idea. If grilling with charcoal is your thing, make sure you have enough. Clean the grill and test it to make sure it’s working properly if you haven’t used it in awhile.
Keep it simple. That doesn’t mean burgers and hotdogs! Take a look around the recipe archives here on Green Thumb White Apron and over at Colavita for a number of dishes that can be prepared in advance.
Set an inviting table. You want your guests to feel at home right? A casual buffet table with glasses ready to be filled and plates waiting to be used should help guests feel welcome to explore and enjoy.
Make it personal. Place cards with guest’s names attached to utensil bundles are always a nice touch. And a menu so your guests know what you’ve cooked up special just for them.
Have fun. With a little advanced preparation, you’ll enjoy the party as much as your guests!
To get you inspired for your summertime celebrations, I’ll be sharing some new easy to make, low-fuss, and incredibly flavorful recipes over the next few weeks. Many of them can be easily prepared on the grill or in advance so you’ll have plenty of time to to relax and enjoy the party.
Have a safe (and delicious!) Fourth of July!
Cheers!
