Blood Orange Greek Yogurt S Can you tell I’m ready for spring?  All my posts so far have sort of centered around spring—a citrus pound cake, a flower show, a how-to video about making a seed tape, and ended with a little more citrus.  Oh, and a trip to Italy that I’ll be taking this spring!

Yep. I.  Am. Ready.  To me, citrus means spring.  Maybe it’s the color.  Or, the intoxicating aroma.  I just want to swim in it.

With daylight saving time behind us, at least we’re getting closer to spring.  For those of you in warmer climates, I am jealous.  This year’s winter has been especially rough and I am ready to dig in the dirt.  Actually, I was ready for spring after the first snowflake fell.  Some of my friends on the west coast feel sorry for me this time of year and send me copious quantities of citrus they grow.  In their yards {jealous tone intended!}.  Limes, lemons, oranges.  All beautifully perfect.  Those of us on the east coast haven’t seen our yards in weeks.  With yet another significant snowfall predicted here this week, I am ready to just crawl under the covers and hibernate until winter is over.

One thing I do to bring a little spring indoors when a sunny day is nowhere in sight is to grow some wheat grass.  There’s nothing easier—just sprinkle a few organic wheat grass seeds over some moist soil and voila!  In a few days you have spring in a pot.  Admire it.  Touch it.  Smell it.  Drink it.

Want it a little sweeter?  Add some raw honey or agave syrup and you’re good to go.   I’m calling it my OMGG Smoothy:  Blood Orange-Mango-Wheat Grass-Greek Yogurt Smoothy!

This 4 ingredient smoothy is a taste of spring! Get your week off to great start and make it today!
Recipe type: Breakfast
Serves: 2 regular or 4 small
  • 2 blood oranges, peeled, seeded, and pith removed
  • 1 large rip mango, peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup fresh wheat grass
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
Want it a little sweeter? Add some raw honey or agave syrup and you’re good to go! If blood oranges are unavailable or out of season, substitute with another type of orange.

    I haven’t ventured too much beyond the strawberry banana yogurt smoothies my girls like – but this looks so health and refreshing, I may need to branch out!! Cute video!!
